Frequently Asked Questions
-
How would you best describe your style? My wedding photography style is natural, modern, candid and classy. I always try my best to capture the couple as they are. My biggest goal is to ensure my couples feel comfortable. Even I don't like having my photo taken, so I understand it can be uncomfortable sometimes and will always do my best to put you at ease in front of the camera.
-
How long have you been a wedding photographer?I've been a wedding photographer for 4 years now, but have been taking photos for 8 years.
-
How many images will we receive? This really depends on the wedding itself. Of course, if you're having a big wedding with lots of people, then you'll recieve more shots than if it was a small more intimate wedding. My full day wedding photography package provides a minimum of 600 photos, while the half day wedding photography package provides a minimum of 400.
-
Do you do posed couple portraits?I like to do subtle posing, nothing too dramatic! Like I said previously, I really do like to capture how the couple are and allow the couple to enjoy their day.
-
Do you offer engagement and pre-wedding shoots?I do offer engagement and pre-wedding photoshoots and also include a free pre-wedding shoot with the full day wedding photography package.
-
Are you fully insured?Yes, I am fully insured with the correct liability insurance and protection for your wedding day.
-
How long will it take for our photos to be ready?I take editing very seriously. I love the editing process so I do take a lot of time to perfect it and I never rush it, which means, in peak wedding season, I allow 8-12 weeks for album turn around. In the winter and quiet periods, it's normally 6 weeks.
-
Where are you based and how far are you willing to travel?I live in Devon and frequently work with clients in Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Cornwall but I offer my wedding photography services throughout the UK.
-
How do we book you for our wedding? You can book me directly through my website or send me an email to info@tobylidstonephotography.co.uk
-
Can we meet for a chat before we book you?Depending on your location, I'd love to meet you to discuss your wedding plans and get to know each other. If you're further away, I'd be happy to arrange for a video call consultation. Get in touch to chat about your wedding.
-
How far in advance should we book?I'd recommend booking your wedding date at least one year in advance. But if your wedding date is sooner than that, please pop me an email as I might still be free on that date.
-
Do we need to sign a contract and pay a deposit?Yes, in order to secure your wedding date, I will need the contract to be signed and returned to me, along with a deposit of £250.
-
Do you offer half day packages?I sure do, you can view all my wedding photography packages on my website, from a half day wedding photography package to a full day package and engagement shoot.
-
What equipment do you use?I use two full frame Nikons, a selection of lenses that cover all the needed focal lengths. I also use flashes for when I need them.
-
Do you charge extra for travel?I do charge some travel and accommodation costs if it is too far to travel on the same day. I like to make sure I'm close to the wedding the night before to eliminate any risk of something going wrong like traffic or break downs.
-
How long will you be photographing for on the day?The full day wedding photography package includes 11 hours of shooting on your wedding day. The half day wedding photography package includes roughly 6 hours.
-
What happens if you are ill, or unable to attend our wedding at the last minute? The question that is always asked, and for good reason! In the 4 years I've been photographing weddings, there hasn't been a single occasion where I've not been able to show up on the day. But if for some awful reason (I would have to be on my death bed) I couldn't make a wedding, I have 4 other brilliant photographers who work together to cover in an emergency. If they are unavailable, I am in a group specifically made for this exact reason - where photographer's can get covered by fellow photographers at the last minute. They would only photograph your day, I would still edit your wedding. But I would like to reassure you that this is very unlikely and always the last possible option.
